Lilac Surprise! My Aveda Hair Styling Experience.

Thursday, July 11, 2013

Hi Everyone :)

I found out that The Lilac Box was doing an Aveda promotion where you can get complimentary hair consultation and styling. It was definitely an opportunity that I have been waiting for. A blogger friend of mine recommended Aveda a few months back, and I have not have the time to just stop by at Pavilion just for a consultation. After knowing about this promotion, I decided to take this chance and go for it :)

Here's a quick fact about Aveda :)

"The art and science of pure flower and plant essences is the core of Aveda. Our beauty products are alive with the life force of plants, and contain pure essential oils. Our solutions are so powerful we call them Purescriptions™. While we specialize in hair care, we offer other plant-based products—skin care, makeup, pure-fume™, aromas and lifestyle—that are all professionally developed, clinically tested, and go to exceptional lengths to be respectful of the earth. Our professional network, nearly 7,000 salons and spas worldwide, shares our commitment. Ever since a hairdresser founded Aveda in 1978, our products have been harvested with respect for the earth, in harmony with the web of life.

I am super excited about this. One of the reasons is because I know how hard it is to get a sincere consultation without being pushed to buy any products. Any saloon I go to, it’s obvious that they don’t really analyse your hair well and just promote their “star” product that is supposedly to help with all your hair problems. So, I can go to Aveda without feeling unwelcome.

Another thought that came to mind is that they might not be as welcoming considering I’m not actually buying anything and they are suppose to give their services for free. I am so happy and relieved that was not the case. Even though I wasn’t buying anything, there was no hard sales or insincerity. The ones who were working there greeted me with welcome arms were Richard and Rohani.

Rohani analysing my scalp

Rohani was the one who analyzed my hair and scalp condition and I feel relaxed having my consultation over a nice cup of tea. Turns out I don’t have much problems with my hair and scalp aside from hair thinning issue :( I found that my hair follicle was week hence causing my hair to fall from the root not due to breakage. There were some parts of my scalp that is sensitive but not overly so. As for my hair, it’s dry and gets tangled easily. After explaining my scalp and hair condition, it is on to the styling.

Aveda Smooth Infusion & Be Curly range

Since my hair is straight, I decided to have it curled. I told them it might be a challenge coz my hair is very stubborn and hard to style. Before styling, Richard explained about the products that he used. First is prepping my hair with Be Curly Style-prep and Be Curly Curl Enhancer. Richard tried to curl my hair using the flat iron at first and I saw that he was struggling lol. After a while, he opted for the curling iron instead. Once it’s done he finishes off with Aveda Air Control Hair Spray to set the curl.

Before & After <3
Very happy with the hair make over!
Smile! xD
I must say I really love how it turned out. It’s been awhile since I do something different to my hair and it’s like a breathe of fresh “hair” get it? Haha. After the styling, Richard explained what kind of products would be good for my hair condition and I got a complimentary Smooth Infusion Conditioner sample. I am very interested in the Invati system. I really hope I can win it from The Lilac Box Aveda contest >.< or win it any other way coz I can’t afford something like that at the moment huhu.

Aveda Invati System

I enjoyed my hair for the rest of the night, by the time I got home around midnight (Cinderella haha) it’s already getting straight and the next morning it was back to it’s normal straight self. I knew it wouldn’t last but I still had fun experiencing the hair make over.

Thank you The Lilac Box for the surprise and thank you Richard and Rohani from Aveda for the experience :)
