BCL's Kawaii Makeup Workshop with Mr Tanabe
Wednesday, September 25, 2013
Hi Everyone!
2 weeks ago I attended the BCL (Beauty Creative Lab) makeup workshop. The workshop was done by Mr Tanabe who has had 10 years of working experience with Shiseido, impressive! He and his team flew all the way from Japan to conduct this workshop, so it was an honor to be invited :)
We were introduced to products by BCL and the 4 latest looks of Tokyo; the cool & confident SHIBUYA GIRL, the pop & sweet HARAJUKU GIRL, the dolly & natural AKIHABARA GIRL and lastly the fairy & elegant YOKOHAMA GIRL.
Mr Tanabe taught us how to achieve the Akihabara Girl look. So lets get started :D
1) Apply base
Nothing works best than on a flawless canvas. So wear any foundation/powder you like to create the smooth flawless face.
2) Define the brows
Browlash EX W Eyebrow Pencil & Liquid (Natural Brown / Greyish Brown) |
Start at the arc of your brow and slowly fill in, moving towards the middle and then to the beginning of your brow with small strokes. Here Mr Tanabe uses the dual ended Browlash EX W Eyebrow Pencil & Liquid (Natural Brown / Greyish Brown). Using the pencil will make your brows look more natural but using the liquid will make it more define.
3) Eye shadow & Eyeliner
Makemania Data Gradation Tip Shadow (Bronze Brown / Light Brown) |
Makemania Data Pencil Gel Liner (Jet Black / Deep Brown) Browlash EX Water Strong Liner |
Using the Makemania Data Gradation Tip Shadow, make a thick line like how you would with an eyeliner. Follow your natural lash line and then extend the shadow downwards at the outer corner to get that "droopy eye" effect. A droopy eye would make you look more innocent and youthful.
Then proceed with lining your eyes. After that, tight line your upper water line for a more fuller lash effect using the Pencil Gel Liner.
4) Mascara
This would be the first time I put so many mascara on my lashes lol. Mr Tanabe showed us how to get the fullest naturally curved lashes using these three mascara without using an eyelash curler. First, coat your lashes with the volumizing mascara to lengthen and add volume to you lashes. Then, using the curling mascara, coat your lashes from the root and stop in the middle and press your lashes with the mascara wand to make and hold the "curl" of your lashes. Repeat this step until your lashes are curled. Then finish it with the lash separater to separate your lashes and get rid of clumps.
I asked for Mr Tanabe to help me with this and here is the result :)

It was kind and sweet of him to help me out. I know my lashes are stubborn and wont curled easily. But look at my lashes! It's not BAM on your face curled but it is natural ^^ Thank you Mr Tanabe.
Lastly, removing your makeup. It's very important! We got to try the Tsururi Ghassoul Paste. It's a scrub and it removes light makeup well, but I don't really like the smell, it smells like lemongrass >.<
And that's it! It's easy once you get the hang of it. It is A LOT of products to use lol but I think he was using that to show us how to use all of the products, I don't think you necessarily have to use everything he used. I mean, realistically, I don't think I have the patience to apply 3 mascara on my lashes everyday lol.
After that we had a chance to talk to Mr Tanabe and take a group photo. It was a lovely workshop, it was actually my date with Sabrina and Mieza hehe, girls having fun playing with makeup, now that's my kind of date ;D
