First Impression: GLAMGLOW® Youthmud™ Tinglexfoliate Treatment + Video

Friday, August 15, 2014

Hi Everyone!

Today I'm going to do a special first impression of the much raved and one of the most wanted mask in the market, GLAMGLOW® Youthmud™ Tinglexfoliate Treatment. GLAMGLOW® has been circulating all around YouTube and Blogs and has taken the beauty community by storm. All of the reviews I have read and seen about GLAMGLOW® has made me all the more curious about the brand at their products. The only reason why I haven't made a purchase (or most of the people) is solely because of the price tag. Here in Malaysia the price ranges around RM 240 for 12 g to 50 g of products. My foundation is not even as expensive as that. Okay, before we get on to the product I want to first talk about the brand.

GLAMGLOW® was founded in 2010 by Glenn & Shannon Dellimore. The products were actually exclusively used for behind-the-scenes in the Hollywood Entertainment, Music, Fashion & Award Industries. It was not until 2011 that GLAMGLOW® was made available for retail. I guess this is the reason why their products starts at a very high price point, because it was already recognised by celebrities and influential people in the Entertainment Industry in Hollywood.

It all started when when an actor friend of Glenn & Shannon commented that he could not find a product that made his skin instantly camera ready, instantly reducing pores, instantly dealing with sun damage, instantly dealing with fine lines and instantly producing a noticeable glow that would last for days. It sounded like he was looking for a miracle product to me. But with that realisation that no such product exist in the market, that's when Glenn & Shannon set out to create a product just for their actor friends, not for sale to anyone, not for retail to anyone and not limited by any production costs.

So, after they made some samples and gave it to their actor friends to try out, that small sample got positive feedbacks and soon they were asking for more and recommending it to their other friends. The little sample product containers had no name and no packaging, yet was soon being requested by executives of major studios and other A list actors.

Right now, GLAMGLOW® has taken the world by storm with accolades such as ELLE Magazine’s No.1 Beauty Obsession, Harrods Best Seller, Voted Sephora HOT NOW and Winner of the coveted Neiman Marcus Beauty Awards, and launching in 84 countries in over 6,000 stores with Luxury Retail Stores, Spa Professional Back-Bar and In-Room Hotels all in just 16 months. That is impressive. If you want to read more about the brand or about Glenn & Shannon Dellimore, you can visit GLAMGLOW® website.

Okay, let's move on to the product. I got this sample size of GLAMGLOW® Youthmud™ Tinglexfoliate Treatment from The Butterfly Project. I was one of the lucky butterflies to receive this sample size to review. So this is what it says about the product:

How to use this 'magic' mask?

Apply a thin layer to clean face. Expect a tingle-tastic tightening effect in 10 minutes or less. Remove mask with water in circular motions to exfoliate. Use twice a week or as often as desired.

What is the function of this 'magic' mask?
  • Leaves skin noticeably radiant and glowing.
  • Activates moisturising collagen synthesis.
  • Provides gentle resurfacing exfoliation.
  • Helps to leave skin smoother, brighter and softer.
  • Provides tighter skin texture and tighter pores.
  • Helps to provide a more youthful appearance.
  • Absorbs impurities without removing natural oils.
  • Helps to protect against free radical damage.
My first impression:

This first thing I noticed is the smell. It has such a strong smell. I didn't even had to open the seal to smell it. It smells like green tea. I like the smell of green tea, it gives a calming effect somehow. The texture looks thick but easily blendable. It dries super fast so you have to work fast haha. A thin layer would already dried up before you even finish applying it all over your face. It works fast too in terms of the effect, I can instantly feel the "tingle tastic tightening" effect. After around 5 minutes I can see the oil that it is absorbing around my nose area and during this time I can hardly talk because the mask was already tight. I think I may have used a little more than a thin layer because I used it with my fingers, I think if you use a foundation brush it would give a thin layer. I left it on a little more than 10 minutes just to let all of the mud mask dries up and washing it off in circular motion did not irritate my skin at all. It feels really nice and refreshing after washing my face. And if you see in the video, I can't stop touching my skin! It felt so smooth, its surreal!

What's my verdict?

I honestly think this 'magic' mask does what it claims to do. It is perfect for an instant camera ready (or makeup ready) skin. It tightens my pores, it makes my skin brighter, it does a really good job in removing oil without making my skin dry. I think for my skin, it is suitable to use a very thin layer, and if you have oilier or more problematic skin you can use a little bit more than a thin layer. I really think this is very good for back stage uses especially for fashion shows where time is of the essence and things need to get done instantly. It is also very good for those who has a busy and hectic schedule and are always on the go. I don't think this is suitable for dry skin, but GLAMGLOW® has a mask for dry skin called Thirstymud™ Hydrating Treatment. Personally, I would love to have this in my makeup kit, I think it would really help in creating a perfect canvas on the face for makeup application, but for now, it is not yet necessary plus I still don't have the money for it *so sad* It would be nice to have this as a gift though haha, it is definitely in my wishlist now.
