1Utama Wonder Food Adventure

Friday, December 06, 2013

Hi Everyone!

I realised that lately one of my favourite places to go to is 1Utama (all coz mama-san got me hooked on the awesome TGV there haha). But one thing that have always boggles me is where and what to eat there? Lol, you must be like "umm 1Utama is huge man, is it so hard to find a place to eat?" Well, because it's huge that's why it's so hard to decide haha.

Thanks to The Butterfly Project, 50 bloggers including myself was given the chance to discover fantastic treats available at 1Utama during the 1Utama's Wonder Food Adventure! Other than that, from 4th - 24th November 2013, the Wonder Food event offers fun activities and rewards for their ONECARD users!

There were 15 participating outlets, 11 halal and 4 non-halal, but we only needed to try out 5 at the least. How many did I try out? You shall see :P Here are the list of the participating outlets:

LG Promenade: SS2 Goreng Pisang, Ninja Joe, Seaweed Club, I Love Yoo, Eat & Happy Yong Tau Foo, Oyster King, Bisou, Mr Cendol, Pao Xiang Bak Kut Teh, Ko Hyang Korean Country Delights.

LG Highstreet: Lameeya, BBQ Chicken, Food Box, Vivo American Pizza and Panini, and Lava.
I was so excited (and dying out of starvation) to try out the food! It was my first food hunt too :D Ironically, I have only been to one of these places before (and I say I love going to 1Utama lol, it's a huge place man! It's the World's 4th Largest Mall!)

Before we begin the food hunt, Mama-san & Illy briefed us about the event and we got awesome goodies! Like a power bank and a christmas pillow, cool right? :P

So, ready to get started? Ready. Set. Go!

1. Bisou Bake Shop

Of course I went for the cutest thing ever, dessert first haha. We got their "Cupcake of the Month". It was delicious! Sporting a selection of homestyle cupcakes, cakes and cookies, there is something to suit every palate. With 13 cupcake flavours everyday and an additional “Cupcake of the Month”, cupcake lovers are spoilt for choice. And for those who would perhaps prefer a bigger piece of cake, we have a fabulous selection that includes our very famous Banoffee Pie and a Real Black Forest Gateau. The deliciously decorated cupcakes will make you drool :D

2. Mr Cendol

What began as a passion for home cooked food in Ayer Tawar (Perak) in a small corner near the Main Road has now become a chain of modern but casual Malaysian eateries with 7 outlets to date. Their menu includes hot & cold drinks, snacks, noodles & rice meals for the individual & family. I don't particularly like cendol but this one is not bad!

3. Vivo American Pizza and Panini

It all started with the secret recipe of the Horrigan family, who served the best American style pizza in town using the traditional method of baking. Today, Vivo bring you pizzas using the latest baking technology that ensures perfection at all times.

I have to say this is the best place I went to that day. The customer service was excellent and the food was to die for! They have a wide variety of choices, from western to italian and they also have some rice dishes. One unique dish I spotted was Baked Rice with Sambal Belacan. My friends all say if you eat baked rice with sambal belacan it is very delicious. I didn't try it though coz I don't prefer spicy food that much haha. One more thing that I will never forget and am still craving badly for is their Chocolate Lava with Vanilla Ice Cream. It is SO GOOD that it can turn a non-chocolate eating mama-san to love it so much. THAT'S HOW GOOD IT IS!

4. Molten Lava

Molten Lava have a unique dish which is the deep fried churros. I say unique coz it's the first time I know about this haha. It taste so good and it's better to eat it while it's hot. They also have some swiss rolls and macaroons ^^

5. Seaweed Club

This reminds me of the crispy spring rolls I like and this one taste as good too! It's similar except that they wrapped it with seaweed instead. Talk about popiah + sushi haha. They have a few flavours: original, tuna, wasabi and vegetarian.

6. Eat & Happy Yong Tau Foo

I just stopped by here and didn't try anything. But they have lots of variety that any Yong Tau Foo lovers would enjoy. They also have combo meals too, which I think it pretty awesome.

7. I Love Yoo

If you like porridges here is the place for you! They have different varieties of porridges. They are also known for their Soy Milk too. Other than that, they also have sorted fried buns. I tasted their fried buns and karipap. Yummy!

8. Ko Hyang Korean Country Delights

I didn't have time to try any of their dishes here especially since they didn't allow me to take away huhu. But I heard it has the best Korean food! Their signature dish include; BiBimBap (Rice mixed with vegetables, chili paste and beef /chicken) & Kimchi JiGae (Thick and rich kim chi stew with rice) & Jap Chae (Stir fried glass noodle with vegetables and beef /chicken).

9. Oyster King

Before I became allergic to seafood, Oyster King was my fav place! I especially like their Lala Fried Rice and Orh Chien. They offer affordable seafood dishes which are fresh and delicious. They also have combos and sets. I also like their take away package, it's so cute :P

10. SS2 Goreng Pisang

No need to go out of the mall to look for a fried banana stand haha they have it here! Fried banana fritters, fried sweet glutinous rice cake with yam and sweet potato, prawn fritters, all of the best local tea time snack can be found here.

11. BBQ Chicken

Lastly, the BBQ Chicken. I was so tired and full of foods that I actually forgot to take a picture of the place! And the meal is even half eaten LOL. Sorry BBQ Chicken >.< but I really like their meal. If you're crazy about chickens (obviously) you have to try this place. I kept drooling looking at their chicken wings haha.

So there you go! I went to all the 11 halal outlets hehe. I thought 5 would be more than enough but once you've started you really enjoyed it especially when you share the experience with friends. I got to meet my awesome blogger friends and I got home with a full happy stomach.
