Step 1: The Pre-Cleanse; Remove your makeup.

This is the first part of the famous “double cleansing” method that the Koreans love to do. First remove your makeup with a gentle makeup remover or the eyes and lips, followed by a cleansing oil for the face. It is recommended to use a nutrient-rich cotton wipe, which is gentle on the skin. Next, use a deep cleansing oil to draw out impurities within the pores.

Recommended products:

CLIV Cleansing Oil, 250 ml, RM 90

Step 2: The Cleanse.

The second part of the “double cleansing” method, use a mild cream or foaming cleanser depending on your skin type. This is to further remove any excess traces of makeup or dirt on the surface of the skin. Korean women will usually massage the face gently to increase circulation, which brings out a brighter complexion.

Step 5: The Essence.

The essence is often regarded as the most important step of the Korean skincare regimen. Essence is a nourishing liquid concentrate that enhances the skin’s cellular renewal process, leading to an increase in elasticity and firmness, as well as a brighter complexion. Aplly to Acotton pad and tap product into the skin.

Step 6: The Ampoule.

Ampoules contain concentrated active ingredients with smaller molecules for a deeper penetration to target specific skin concerns. It works wonders like a treatment to combat skin problems such as signs of ageing, pigmentation, excessive oil production and many more with a faster and more effective results when used together with a complete regime.

Step 7: The Sheet Mask.

Use a sheet mask twice a week on top of your skincare ritual, or more if your skin is very dry. The sheet masks are soaked in nutritious ingredients, which are then absorbed into your skin. The secret to sheet mask? They help your skin to absorb the nutrients and moisture intensively before the product has a chance to evaporate.

Step 8: The Eye Cream.

The skin around the eyes are very thin and fragile as compared to our facial skin, hence it requires extra gentle care. It is more prone to lines, wrinkles and dehydration. So, it is essential to pamper the area around the eyes. Gently tap the product around the entire eye to keep the area moisturized to shy away fine lines.

Recommended products:

Step 9: The Moisturizer.

Replenish your skin’s hydration and lock it in with a lightweight emulsion. Use your fingertips to lightly massage the product into your face and neck to promote healthy blood circulation.

Recommended products:

CLIV Mediclear Cream, 70 g, RM 180

Step 10: The Night Cream, Sleeping Mask or Sunblock.

For the final step, apply a night cream to help lock the goodness of the serums or ampoules while adding moisture and firming effect. Another option is to use a sleeping pack which is a jelly-like texture packed with a moisture and many nourishing benefits, leaving the skin velvety soft and well-hydrated from the inside out.

During the day, you can replace this step with a sunblock to protect your skin from the harmful UV rays.

Recommended products:

Cremorlab Enriched Moisture, 45 ml, RM 129
CLIV Active Resurgence Wine Capsule Gel, 50 ml, RM 100
AM+PM 10 Peptide Firming Night Gelly, 118 ml, RM 69

There you go! The 10 Step Korean Skincare Regime. The secret is out. The only question is, can we do it? Looking back at the steps, on a daily basis we will only use 7-8 steps day and night. Exfoliate and using sheet masks are done at least once a week and the pre-cleanse is only during nighttime. If you do want a Korean glowing skin these are the steps to take. Personally, apply skincare is like a daily therapy, it works best if you are taking your time and relaxed. MUSE gave a trial set of Cremorlab to try and my skin loves is so much that I came back and purchased the full sizes! Consider it as a birthday treat for myself :)
