July 2014 Favourites
Monday, August 04, 2014
July just passed and we are half way through the year of 2014! Time does fly so fast and I hope you are having a great year with a lot of bright possibility in the future :) For now, it's time to share out monthly favourites ^_^ This month I didn't use a lot of beauty products, hardly wear makeup because I have been so busy, but here are the things I find myself reaching for the most the past month.
1. M.A.C Prep + Prime Transparent Finishing Powder
I love this translucent powder, it has become a staple in my makeup routine, all because of Wayne Goss Makeup Artist. He didn't recommend this product per se but he gave a tip (which you can see here) on how to make your makeup last longer by powdering your face after moisturiser and before foundation. How it works is that the powder will absorb any excess oil/moisture and it will provide a smooth canvas for the foundation. It works well with moisturised skin and dewy foundation. This means if you have dry skin or if you are planning to use a very drying foundation (like M.A.C Studio Fix or Revlon Colorstay) it will not work so well. With that said, I found that this tip works best with my M.A.C Prep + Prime Transparent Finishing Powder. The texture is so soft and fine that it stays on the face without looking cakey. Plus, I have tested this with flash photography and it has no flash back or white cast which is amazing! Let me know if you would like me to make a more detailed review on this product :)
2. Bourjois Rouge Edition in 17 Rose Millesime
I got this as a prize from Bourjois facebook contest and I was so happy that I was one of the winners! I chose the shade 17 Rose Millesime because it looks like a MLBB "My Lips But Better" color and after trying it on, it is! It is so pigmented that I can wear it sheer and I love to wear it sheer. It makes my lips look healthy and pink! I can also intensify the color by just using a heavier application. The price is like a normal drugstore lipstick price and it has become one of my staples too.
3. BCL Makemania Data Pencil Gel Liner in Jet Black
Because this month I wasn't wearing too much makeup, I like to tightline my eyes instead of lining them. It is a good quick pick me up for your eyes without wearing too much product. It glides on my waterline so smoothly and it is very pigmented, very black in color. The only downside is that it smudges, but after a whole day of wear, which isn't such a problem for me.
4. The Body Shop Early-Harvest Raspberry Shower Gel
I love anything that smells delicious enough for me to eat! Especially if it is bath products. Fruity scents make me so happy stepping out of the shower and The Body Shop Early-Harvest Raspberry Shower Gel was no exception. From the moment I smelled it in the stores I was sold. It really smells like delicious sweet raspberry. I can't stop smelling myself after every shower. TMI? haha.
5. Elianto Brilliant Riche Lip Color
Lastly, this was a last minute edition, just because I got a hold of it later in the month. I fell in love with the pigmentation and the look it gave my lips. I'm also impressed of the longevity of this lip products. I have all the shades and this is one of my favourite because it's the most natural. I talked about this in my Raya Beauty Essentials and also used it in my Raya Makeup Tutorial video. If you haven't seen it yet, you can checked them out here. A review on the Elianto Brilliant Riche Lip Color is coming up so stay tuned ^_^
So, that is it for my monthly favourites. I hope you enjoyed this post. And please share your beauty favourites in the comments below, I would love to hear from you :)
